Safety, Safeguarding & Risk

The Safety, Safeguarding & Risk programme at Achievers Training College is designed to equip health and social care professionals with the knowledge, awareness, and practical skills required to maintain safe working environments, protect vulnerable individuals, and effectively manage risks within adult care settings. Safety and safeguarding are fundamental responsibilities in health and social care, and professionals must be able to identify concerns, respond appropriately, and promote the wellbeing of individuals receiving support.

This programme focuses on safe working practices, safeguarding responsibilities, health and safety procedures, and risk management approaches that contribute to safer care delivery and improved outcomes for service users. Learners gain an understanding of professional responsibilities, legal requirements, and the importance of balancing safety with person-centred care and individual independence.

The module ATCLMA18 – Safe Ways of Working, Protection and Risk introduces learners to safe working practices, duty of care responsibilities, workplace protection measures, and approaches to identifying and reducing risks within care environments. The module ATCLMA20 – Health and Safety in Adult Care explores workplace health and safety responsibilities within care settings. Learners develop an understanding of infection prevention and control, moving and handling, accident prevention, fire safety, COSHH awareness, and maintaining safe environments for both staff and service users. The course highlights how strong health and safety practices contribute to safer, more effective care delivery.

The module ATCLMA21 – Risk-Taking and Risk Management focuses on balancing individual choice, independence, and positive risk-taking with the need to maintain safe care practices.
